     Academic Infrastructure

The National School of Cricket has tied up with a leading school of Dehradun - The Asian School - to cover the academic curriculum as per the CISCE program. The school is located in a verdant 14 acre campus, practically in the middle of the city. 10 minutes drive from the railway station and the bus terminal, the academic block at Asian Acres is an impressive structure housing classrooms, laboratories, library, auditorium and other spaces that have been designed to promote inter-active learning. Located on campus are also the three hostel blocks – separate for junior boys, senior boys and girls.

The Asian School brings together the traditions and ethos of India and modern technology in an environment where every child is an individual. It offers English medium, secular, co-
educational education and is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.

The School endeavours to provide a meaningful learning environment through 'subject based classrooms'. Classrooms are assigned to specific subjects and their interiors are thus, subject specific. This way, the teachers have, immediately at hand, plenty of interest -generating teaching aids, ranging from maps, charts and illustrations to computer software, books and models. These classrooms themselves, consequent to the ambience created with subject specific displays, exhibits, books, etc. serve to generate added student interested in respective subjects and enhance academic motivation.

Let’s take a closer look at these :

1. Classrooms : One of the important aspects of a truly good education, particularly at the primary & middle school level, is that learning must be activity oriented, with plenty of practical work and provision for concrete learning experiences, rather than mere bookish learning. Therefore, all academic facility interiors have been meticulously planned to allow plenty of individual activities, project and project work.

2. The School architecture allows creative and positive interaction amongst the students.

3. The computer labs are equipped with the latest hardware and software.

4. Library and Reading room : A modern and appropriately staffed library is located in the
academic complex. A growing collection of books and periodical subscriptions at the library helps maintain the child's interest in supplementary knowledge and reference work.

5. The Gymnasium is equipped with the entire range of apparatus for cardio-vascular and weight training.

6. The hostel : The school accommodation consisting of separate buildings for junior boys and senior boys and is a well co-coordinated facility, with large airy rooms to house 300 students with ease. We have placed much importance on the bathrooms as on the rest of the facility. The toilet areas are scrupulously clean, with hot and cold water supply.

7. 25 m swimming pool : The School program encourages students to maintain good health and fitness as a general rule. Asian School students are very active in sports and athletics, with teams involved in competitive intramural activities and interschool competitions. A 25m swimming pool and a gold-class gymnasium are only two of the array of facilities and infrastructure that inculcate the spirit - ‘in a healthy body resides a healthy mind’.

8. Dining Hall : Meals, snacks and soft drinks, including options for non- vegetarians, are available in the school kitchen serving hygienically cooked food. Non-vegetarian food is served five days in a week and milk three times daily. The menu comprise of Punjabi, South Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes. To keep pupils in good health, the catering manager actively supervises all kitchen operations supported by a dietician.

9. The Learning Resource Center is the hub of all intellectual and academic activities of the School. The library has a large pool of resources viz. latest literature in fields as diverse as information technology, science, general knowledge and the like. Besides, periodicals, journals and reference keep the students upto-date with the latest. Students are encouraged to use the facilities for reference, studying and borrowing. The LRC is also equipped with a Computer and curriculum based CDs on all subjects for ready reference.

The school aims to help students make the most of life in campus. Appropriate movies are shown periodically. The common room in the boarding house has a television set and an audio system. Students may avail of these provisions at the end of their daily schedules and on Sundays/holidays.

Students organize informal get-togethers on occasions like birthdays, victory celebrations and festivals. All students are encouraged to display their talents be it singing, playing an instrument, dancing, oratory or histrionics on these occasions, thus generating a feeling of mutual acceptance and oneness.
